Dr. Melissa Mondala is a Southern California native and a double board-certified Family Medicine and Lifestyle Medicine physician. She obtained her medical degree from Chicago Medical School and Masters of Health Administration. She completed her Family Medicine residency and the first Lifestyle Medicine Fellowship from Loma Linda University Health. She was awarded the Lifestyle Medicine Diplomate/Specialist from the American College of Lifestyle Medicine. She has a special focus on mental health and will be completing her Primary Care Psychiatry Fellowship in December 2020.
She serves all ages and enjoys caring for multiple generations. Her patient care involves reversal of type 2 diabetes, dyslipidemia, hypertension, nonalcoholic fatty liver disease, rhinosinusitis, mood disorders, functional abdominal pain, polysubstance abuse, polyarthritis of various autoimmune diseases, and improvement of early chronic kidney disease.

Outside IOPBM, she serves as Family & Preventive Medicine Faculty at Loma Linda University Health, in a Lifestyle Medicine specialty clinic and inpatient lifestyle medicine service.  She is a current Board Director for ACLM. She accelerated the lifestyle medicine movement within academic institutions, social media, community fairs, podcasts, and television.
She led several tobacco cessation groups, Diabetes Prevention Program (DPP) lectures, and contributed to the Lifestyle Medicine Residency curriculum. To augment her training, she completed observerships at Weimar Institute’s NEWSTART, TrueNorth, and St. Helena’s TakeTEN: three intensive lifestyle change programs. She served internationally in China, Philippines, and Guam, where she led Lifestyle Medicine visits and tobacco cessation groups.
She is an engaging motivational speaker that brings evidence based methods to combat chronic disease and uplifts potential barriers through self-empowerment and self-compassion. Her mantras is “Love yourself through your lifestyle.”
